C E Byrd High School Class of 1988
Hard to believe that Chris graduated 20 years ago..and a lot of his classmates have children in high school and we have a one year old..haha. They planned a meet and greet Thursday evening, a dance like prom thing Friday night( I stood my date up because the baby was not feeling well) a picnic Saturday and the Reunion Saturday night...it was a lot but they had around 40 or so and most were from out of town. Chris had a good time catching up with everyone...he was Mr. Popularity in school...involved in everything and from what I heard a real player...I have heard that before, but he did have a lot of girlfriends back in the day. It was so fun hearing all there stories of teachers and such...I graduated from the same high school but it was 7 years after Chris so a few things had changed...here are some pics from the weekend. There are a few of Chris...more of Brooke (sorry when she is with me she steals more camera time, can't help it) Oh I might add that every pic Brooke is eating...that is because that is all she did that day was eat...haha about time!!

My Daddy had a Birthday
and CAKE....and I love cake. Chris's birthday was Thursday so I got him a cake from Brooke both of them loved it. She had it everywhere, she made a bigger mess with this cake than she did with hers....I think it was because this was whipped icing and easier for her to handle. We had a good weekend, did not do much but hang around the house mostly. Brooke is very close to walking, she will walk a long the furniture and leet go for a second but then soon grasp back on. Her new favorite thing to do is crawl thru the banister post in our entry way...sometimes she will crawl thru at an angle and get stuck its really cute. She has been tugging tugging on both ears, I was so hoping all this was behind us. I am hoping that they are better soon. I will keep you posted. Here are some pics and videos from the weekend.

Our First Trip to the ER
Well I picked Brooke up from her sitters and we got home and Brooke was tugging on her ear that we lost the tube from....she had tugged so much that her earring was so tight her ear was purple. So we go to get the earring off and her ear starts bleeding pretty bad. So Chris tries to get it off and the pearl broke off of the post and her ear starts swelling around it. It is now impossible to get this earring off. So I decide to take her to the ER. We get to Suttons Childrens and sign in at 645PM and finally get called back at 940PM. The charity hospital LSU was not taking any more patients because they were filled to compacity so every ER in the city was feeling the rath. So we get back there and the nurse and PA look and decide that they will lube it up and pull it thru the back, that was not going to happen because the post was to big. So they decide to strap her down and numb her ear and try and cut the post out. After numbing the ear the lobe had swollen so bad that they could not possibly see the post any longer. So the Doc comes in and says that the are going to have to cut her lobe (oh NO) but lucky the PA decides she want to try an little longer and sees a sliver of the post and snips it...and the earring comes off. They wound up cutting the other earring too because we could not get it off either. I have never and hope I never will again see my beautiful daughter cry this hard. She was so upset and screaming so that I almost passed out. I feel somewhat responsible for getting her ears pierced but I know that had she not had the tubes she would have been fine. Below are some pics of what is left of her first pearl earrings.

Mama said there would be days like this..............
Well yesterday started off with us going to the Doctor because one of Brooke's tubes came out. Thats right, they were just put in Thursday and one already came out. Everything went ok at the Doctor and the ear is still draining even without the tube so I take her to Ms Irma's and I go to work. I pick her up and she is her happy go lucky self until we get home. She will not let me out of her site, so to the bathroom we go after 2 bottles of water I was about to bust. So there I am tinkeling with her at my feet and she is having a meltdown because she wants to be held. So I get pants pulled up and pick her up and go to flush, at this time Brooke grabs her bow out of her hair at drops it into the flushing toilet. So of course not thinking I just tinkled in this water I stick my hand in to catch it, but it was of no use. The bow was gone...It is then I start gagging and wash my hands like 3 times. So we go in the living room to play and watch the news. She continuied to fuss and cry about EVERYTHING. So I fix her dinner and put a frozen pizza in the oven for myself. Chris is out of town so I put one that he would never eat, so I kinda looking forward to it. She does not want to eat but rather feed her dinner to the dogs who have perched one on each side of her high chair. I feed her a few bites and tell her No No because she was throwing most of her food on the floor, this causes another meltdown. By this time my pizza is ready and I am so hungry I am getting lightheaded, but I had decided I was going to get her in the bathtub and get her ready for bed. So I run the bath water and get her little ears all plugged up and decide I have to have a bite to eat or I am going to fall out. So I have her naked on one hip and just decided screw it I am going to fix me a plate and eat it in the bathroom (eeewww) I know I though so to. So there we are in the bathroom her in the tub...crying for a bite of pizza.. So I am sitting on the floor, elbow resting on the toilet (lid down) feeding her a bite me a bite...Surprisingly this is the happiest she has been all night. I get her out of the tub and ready for bed and she decides to give it up and go to sleep. I never would have thought I would have eaten my dinner in the bathroom or at least had always hoped I wouldn't but you do what you have to when your by yourself with a 1 year old. I do have a couple pics that I will add later but until then the mental picture will have to be enough.

A Speedy Recovery
So Brooke had Ped Tubes put in her ears yesterday after months of a constant double ear infection. I have talked to sooo many people who's children had this procedure and had heard nothing but good things about it. I have to admit I was not expecting such a quick turn around. It was a instant relief for her. Her Doctor said she had so much drainage behind her eardrum that he cleaned out and then put in the tubes. She cried the whole way home from the hospital so I was expecting a rough day, but we got home and the whole family took about an hour nap and she felt like a new kid...she literally covered the whole house corner to corner yesterday. Not only that but she drank all of her bottles out of sippy cups yesterday, I have been working with her but she has seem not interested. The truth is I think it just hurt her to bad to drink out of them, because she is has been drinking them like a champ since. She also slept soooo much better. Chris and I have not slept good in months either so this was a plus to both of us. I have included some pics from yesterday before the surgery and after.
