Sunday at the Duckpond

Yesterday I decided to take Brooke to the Duckpond Park. Chris went to play golf and we went to feed the ducks and play. We got there at 10AM but the ducks must have been full (I actally think they stay full as many people feed them) but they ate very little and Brooke just stared at them. She did have fun on the swings and the slide but of course her favorite things was riding in her car and climbing on the stairs to the slide....we LOVE to climb. Last night Chris and I was hanging pictures and had the 4 step ladder out and she wanted to climb and we kept telling her No-No!! I am sure in her mind she was thinking "Why was ok earlier today and not now" but we moved past it and entertained her with something else less dangerous. I have included LOTS of pictures from yesterday...one of her eating strawberry fruit snacks from Target...they might as well be gold as much as Brooke likes them...she cries and gives me the package when she is done...she loves loves them...so glad they are only 1.50 a box. I love it when I find something she likes. Oh, one more thing I made Barb's chicken salad Thursday night for my lunch and Brooke ate 2 bowls and then started licking the bowl after she was done. Last night I gave her some on crackers (because we would not eat what I cooked her) and she would take a bite them go Mmmmm and then take another bite and Mmmmmm so cute.

Oh Fearless One

Saturday was our friends little girls birthday. Samantha was turning 2 and her Mom had her party at Critter Company. It's a really neat place for a party. It is a pet store and they have a party room. They bring in all kind of different animals for the kids to see and pet etc. The first animal they brought out was an Armadillo...all the kids were scared of it except for my child and she walks over in the middle of all the kids and picks it up and starts walking off with it....after I picked my jaw up off the floor I chased after her...as did the lady that was talking about it. So, she takes the armadillo from Brooke and holds it so Brooke can check it out. In my amazement of the situation, I forgot to take a picture but I think my friend Robin may have snagged one. They also had a Bearded Dragon that they put on Brooke's head like a hat...she was not scared of it either. And last they brought out a puppy, most of the kids liked it...by this time Brooke had entertained herself playing under the table, so the lady who has now named my child "Oh Fearless One" brought the puppy to her to pet. We had ice cream and cupcakes and got a fish and in fishbowl as a party favor...so now we are on a misson for a name for our new fish.



Why, Yes...that is a Bearded Dragon on her head!!

Picture Day

Friday was Fall picture day at Brooke's daycare so even though it is still 90 degrees outside...we dressed for fall for a brief time Friday morning. I can't wait to get them back and see how they turn out. She looked so cute in her hot pink dress...I had her bow made to match, it turned out a little bigger than I thought but was still cute.

Mommy look what I learned to do

Not to much new....really loving the weather. Our high has been in the mid 80s the last few days and every day gets a hotter but its still better than 90-100. Because of the cooler weather we have been spending a lot more time outside in evenings playing ball or ridin on our toys. Brooke got a 4-wheeler from my Aunt & Uncle for her birthday and she is just now getting the hang of holding the button down to get it to go. In the video she almost hits our dog Fatboy and then she laughs when he jumps over the front of it...I got tickled too.

Buh Bye Tree

Almost 5 years...is how long we lived in our house in Keithville and nothing ever happened. Even when Hurricane Rita came through after Katrina a few years back..no damage at all....but then we moved into our new house and BAM!! Our beautiful tree in backyard is demolished. The first large branch fell after Hurricane Gustav and took out the fence and then on Saturday night the other large branch fell and missed the house (Thank Goodness) and what is left of the tree will need to be cut down for the safety of house and our renters. Our renters also told us that there was a lot of shingles in the yard but they could not tell if they were from our house or not. Chris went yesterday morning to look at the damage and found all the shingles are from over the Master Bedroom. So we made a claim but it might take weeks or months before a claims adjuster can come out and look due to the amount of claims that have been made. Lets just hope we do not have any leaks in the mean time. Below are pics of what is left of the tree...this tree is so beautiful when it is in bloom. It had pretty white flowers, I think someone told me it was a Japanese Pear Tree but I am not for sure if that is accurate or not.

Restless weekend

No pics this time...we had a miserable weekend enduring Tropical Storm Ike. We had a lot of rain and strong wind at our house and finally lost power around 5PM on Saturday....Thank Goodness we have a lot of natural light in our house. We went around the corner to a friends house that lost power too and had pizza and the kids played while we all stared at each other...haha!! Finally Brooke was getting crabby so we went home and I managed to find the candles and we had our bath by candlelight. She went to bed with no problems, despite the fact that it was 80 degrees in the house. I put her to bed in a diaper and diaper cover since she is so good now at taking her diaper off. We cracked her window just a bit because the wind and rain was soaking the window sill and we did not want it to ruin the carpet or her furniture...Now on to us, we tried cracking our bedroom window but to much water was coming in so sleeping in there was not an option for me and my hot natured self...So I made me a palette on the floor in the living room and slept in front of the window where the breeze was blowing...it was actually nice and cool, but the floor was not so comfy and I found myself waking up every 30 min or so. Finally the power came on at 2AM and we shut all the windows and went and got in the bed....My allergies are so bad and my body is sooo sore...haha I feel every bit of 31 today. On the other hand I do feel lucky because there are a lot of people that lost everything and people in our city without power and they plan on having it restored by Thursday so I am lucky we went only 9 hours or so. It really shows me how dependant we are on the comforts of life....the power was out and we had no clue what to do with our selves...the kids were playing like nothing was going on. I hope everyone weathered the storm ok.

What a cute mess!!

Brooke is getting really good at feeding herself with a spoon or fork but she tends to get it everywhere. Last night we had spaghetti and meatballs and for desert a ice cream sandwich. Since she is feeding herself more, a quick bath usually follows dinner time...but last night, Chris and I looked at her and she was just a laughing...I quickly grabbed the camera and snapped these priceless pics.

Reruns Are Fun

Well Reruns is here for the Fall/Winter sale and I signed up to work 10 hours so I could see the stuff being brought in and shop the workers sale. When I worked Saturday I found all kinds of stuff I wanted for Brooke but nothing compared to the Dora kitchen...its a talking kitchen that says 28 phrases and it looked like new for 20.00. I signed up to work so last night I was able to purchase 20 items..2 items per 1 hour your work. I got her 2 jackets, a raincoat, 4 pairs of jeans and numerous outfits. Not to mention the kitchen, playfood and untensils and her favorite the yellow chair. Reruns is open to the public on Tuesday and they have website if your are interested. www.rerunsarefun.com
